Visited app was not always Visited. The company behind Visited app, Arriving in High Heels Corporation was originally a travel blog. The name Arriving In High Heels came from the CEO’s Anna Kayfitz personal travels and often travelling in high heels in order to arrive in style. After having visited over 45 countries at the time, it was hard for her to keep track of all the places that she has visited. That’s when the app idea came about.
The app originally was called Travelist, which at the time was a simple concept, keep track of all the countries visited. It included a simple list and a map. What was build as a simple app started to grow when over 100,000 users downloaded and used the app. The idea to make the app into a real business, was born.
The first thing we needed to do was to create logo. The original logo for arriving in high heels was a simply drawn shoe. We decided to make the logo be a world map with a pin in it. Over the years, the colors have went from pastel to more dark blue and yellow to represent earth and water. Working with a designer we had to modernize the look. It was also important for us to have flexibility in design. As we all know beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Therefore today, you can choose from a few preset colors or create you very own version using any color you want!
As the time went on we started to add features to the app including travel inspirations where people can swipe different places and add it to their travel wish list. We also decided to add experiences by country. So if you want to play golf in 5 countries you can add that to your bucketlist.
We proceeded to improve the map as well, adding regions such as states, provinces to over 40 different countries. At this point, we decided to change the name to Visited, after all its the history of where you have been app.
As it is a travel app, we have decided to translate it to 30 languages, to ensure every traveler on this earth can use our app. After all, language should not be a barrier to travel.
After popular demand we added cities to our map. Now you can see not only colors but dot on the map representing cities. This added to our maintenance cost of not only developing the app but also storing data. Therefore, we started to introduce in app purchases, as an option for lifetime one time fee. Due to the increased inflation we had to increase price and decided to offer a monthly payment option.
We also added an ability to print your very own travel poster, simply by going through the steps, you can have it delivered to your door or your friends/family door within a few weeks. It was a request of a few users who thought it would make a great travel gift idea.
However, the biggest app idea we had that separates us for similar competitive apps whom stole our idea such as been, Skratch map and Pin traveler, is our travel lists. Visited has over 180+ travel lists where users can check off famous places and experiences by travel categories. They can mark been or want, see how many of top 10 they have been to and see what is left on your ultimate bucket-list. Here are some examples of our travel lists: golf destinations, cruise ports, world wonders, culinary experiences, ski locations, volcanoes, art museums, national parks (for many countries), and new even villages. The lists keep growing. But more importantly these places and experiences get added to your itinerary for future travels.
Visited’s itinerary feature allows you to see which countries have the most places or experiences that you want to visit. You can add more for each country. And prioritize travel based on that. As we work to expend this feature, the goal is to have the app be the ultimate bucket list tracker and travel planner.
During the course of the app, we have modified the design, logo, even name. What was consistent in this whole process is our vision to make Visited be the ultimate bucket-list app for both past and future travels. We also focus on customer service, while being a technology company whose main product is the app. We have a human approach to our app users, anytime a new place or city needs to be added to the app, you get a real reply from a human being. While we are a small team, we try to do our best to respond quickly to any feature requests or updates.
Today our app, is often found in the top 100 list of travel apps, has over 2.5 million users and is being used all over the world for the purposes of keeping track of past travels and planning future trips. It is available in both Android and Apple devices and can be downloaded for free.
